Teachers earnestly paid attention to the discussions during the Training on Vegetable Production and Soybean Processing conducted by the Department of Agriculture-13 (DA).  The training aims to arm the teahers with knowledge to help them implement effectively the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program (GPP) in their respective schools.

Pareñas, Chief Marketing Assistance Division DA-RFO XIII.Organic rice has generated great public interest due to its health, economic, and environmental potentials. More people are now inclined to choose organically grown rice for these long-term benefits.

With the rising concern about synthetic fertilizers and pesticides residues, the clamor for healthy safe food is growing and the organic market is likewise expected to grow.

DA Caraga Empowers Women through Livelihood Training | Print |

Participants of the Regional Cassava Livelihood Training-Cooking Demo listen attentively to Chef Marife Castillo teaching them various cassava recipes during the training in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.

Tandag City, Surigao del Sur - Recognizing the role of women in nation building, the Department of Agriculture Caraga conducted series of livelihood training for Rural Improvement Club (RIC) and 4H members and Extension Workers in the region.

The AgriPinoy Corn Program is currently promoting value adding products utilizing cassava through cooking demo livelihood training in which the second batch was held in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur last June 17, 2014.

DA opens P81.2M projects in CARAGA | Print |

DA Assistant Secretary Edilberto De Luna leads the ceremonial switch-on of a P16.5-million rice processing center in Barangay Calagdaan in Cantilan, Surigao del Sur.  Also, a similar facility opened in Brgy. Patong-patong,  Madrid, Surigao del Sur, as part of its efforts to help local palay farmers earn more through reduced postharvest losses and improved quality of grain. Both facilities have drying and storage components, and a warehouse where grains can be stored during rainy days or whenever there is inclement weather.The Department of Agriculture opened four big-ticket agricultural infrastructure projects worth P81.2 million in Surigao del Sur and Agusan del Sur, recently, including what could be the country’s first rice mill with parboiling facility.

Representing Secretary Proceso Alcala, Assistant Secretary Edilberto De Luna of the Agri-Pinoy National Rice Program led the inauguration and turnover of P7.3-million
